Fynbos Walk
- this walk is at it's most colourful from September to January. In this section
you will find: Restio Garden; Protea Garden - this area is best in winter and
the spring months when the plants are in bloom; Buchu Garden; Fynbos Demonstration
Garden - this new demonstration garden shows how to use fynbos plants; Erica Garden
- although Erica's provide colour and interest throughout the year, the peak flowering
season is mostly during spring and summer.
The Fynbos Walk draws a
wide variety of birds, many of which are vital pollinators of the fynbos plant.
Frequently seen here are the four species of sun bird namely: the Orange Breasted;
the Malachite; the Greater Double Collared and the Lesser Double Collared.
Guinea fowls are also a
common sight, and in the quieter corners you should also see the Cape Francolin.
