Cape Town - Towns and Villages within the Western Cape
Knysna
The timber industry was responsible for the early development of Knysna, which is situated on the northern shore of a large warm water estuary and is fed by the Knysna River on one side and on the other side you have the beautiful Outeniqua mountains. The ocean is accessed by passing through two large headlands, these are known as "The Heads".
Due to the year long warm climate, Knysna became popular with tourists and people entering their retirement. However, Knysna has recently become popular with golfers, as the town now has several world class golf courses to offer.
Knysna has a large selection of activities available, for the adventurous there is scuba diving, quad biking, etc, for the nature lover there is mountains, forests, a wide variety of flora and fauna etc., and for the shopper there are many small interesting shops to chose from.
However, as there is such a large selection of activities to choose from we would suggest that you ask your accommodation provider, i.e. bed and breakfast or guest house owner for suggestions as they are extremely knowledgeable about their own area.
