My peaceful guest house break in Hermanus
I am a workaholic and haven't had a proper break in years. I know this is self inflicted and decided to take a week off to recharge my batteries. My partner passed away a few years ago and I have been on my own since then.
A work colleague suggested Hermanus as he normally takes his family there once a year on a camping trip. I booked a guest house as I didn't want to be completely on my own. My hosts at the guest house were very friendly and gave me quite a few suggestions as to what I could do during the day. I did some whale watching, strolled through the market fair and did quite a bit of walking.
The best part of the trip, I think, was just lying next to the pool with a good book. I can't even remember when I last read a novel, so for me this was the best relaxation. When I returned to work I felt like a completely new person and I have since decided that I must take a break at least once a year.
